When you’re in the market for a pair of Fila shoes, it’s a good idea to make sure you’ve got the right time of year to shop for them.
That’s because, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, if you shop at the wrong time of the year, your feet may be at risk for developing foot infections.
“If you shop on Friday and Saturday, it may not matter if your feet are cold or warm,” said Dr. Jodi Siegel, an associate professor at the Harvard Medical School and an orthopedic surgeon.
The most common reason that your feet get infected is when you go outside during the summer months, when temperatures can drop into the mid-40s.
“In this case, the foot can get warmer because you’re outside,” Siegel said.
If you have foot problems, it could be because you’ve spent time outside or you’ve been exposed to cold temperatures in the past.
“A lot of people don’t take precautions during the winter months,” Sauer said.
“The cold, and the lack of insulation, make it hard for the skin to contract and the skin can get irritated.”
It’s important to be cautious when you shop because if you get cold feet or if you’re exposed to the cold, you could be at higher risk for foot infections, Siegel added.
Here are some tips to make your shopping season easier for you.
“You should buy your shoes at the beginning of the season,” Sinkle said.
That way, you won’t have to wait until the end of the month to shop.
And when you get your order in, make sure that it includes your feet and foot pads, Sinkel said.
Also, make note of the size and style of your shoes, especially if you have any other medical conditions.
“Make sure you’re choosing shoes that are suitable for your foot size,” Sinker said.
And make sure to have the right size and shape for your feet.
“Most people find that if they have a normal shoe, the soles are snug and they can slip,” Selle said.
So if you want a more comfortable fit, choose a size that’s a bit wider or narrower, Sike said.
When it comes to getting the right shoes for you, Sinker advised choosing shoes with high ankle support.
“It’s really important that you get shoes that support your feet,” she said.
Siegel also said that you should be mindful of the sizes of your feet as well as the type of shoes you wear.
“Do you wear a dress shoe or a high-cut shoe?
Is it a shoe that has a wider toe box?
Do you wear high-heeled shoes?”
“For women, if they wear high heels, it should be a high heel shoe,” she explained.
Also make sure your shoes fit snugly.
“So if you wear something with a high arch, and your foot is sticking out, that’s an issue,” Sike advised.
“Also, if the shoe fits snugly and it doesn’t really fit your foot well, try another size.”
If you’re looking for the best pair of shoes, Sargell said, look for the widest widths and the widest shapes.
“People who wear wide shoes tend to wear them in the summer and they have more support,” she added.
“Women wear narrow shoes and they tend to have more stability and they are less likely to slip,” she continued.
So for women, it makes sense to look for shoes with wide and narrow designs.
“Try a variety of different shoes,” Sargeell said.
Finally, when shopping for shoes, be sure to ask your doctor if your size and size are appropriate.
If your doctor recommends a different size for you and your size is not consistent with your body type, your doctor will recommend a different shoe for you based on your body shape.
“That way, the doctor can be a little more specific about what to do,” Sinek said.
